Hello everyone. i just got a 1988 18ft bayliner with a 1990 force 150 with a 25in shaft. and the first time we took it out within the first hour i blew three pistons. and my buddy has an 1987 force 125 with the 20 in shaft sitting in his shop. so my questions is can i just swap powerheads and be back on the lake. thanks for all your input. Nathan

Yes, I believe the 125 will directly swap with the 1990 150

Ok cause looking at the bolts it looks like the 125 has an extra one unless theres one under the reed valve cover on the 150 I can't see

Six nuts under the rear shroud and six 9/16 head bolts inside the front lower cowl. Three on each side of the shift rod. Thus the match plate is held to the midleg at 12 points: Six studs and six bolts..

Now, sometime after 92 (I think) Mercury did change the block mounting but you would know because it would have a Mercury lower unit and Mercury controls.
