"The 12-year-old was thrilled to win his first heat with his cardboard boat, ?The Brick,? but said he had no hope of surviving the finals.

Trey Bishop of Matherville, Ill., climbed out of his homemade vessel with a smile on his face that was almost as wide as his cardboard-and-duct-tape bow.

Asked whether he expected to win the last heat of the competition, however, he didn?t hesitate before saying, ?No.?

Bishop?s was one of 25 boats made entirely of recyclables in the Recycled Float Race at Sunset Marina?s Lake Potter, Rock Island. The event has been held on the Fourth of July for more than 20 years."

I don't know if they still do it,but we used to have a " Anything that Floats" race here on the Illinois river. Some really crazy rigs out there!
