82 Johnson Fuel Pump Leaking? +

Hello,

I have a 1982 Johnson 70hp (J70EL CNB) that was not running right.
I went through the carbs which made huge difference but still not quite there.
It was wanting to bog down under load when throttled up.
Next I replaced the bulb & rebuilt the fuel pump with a new kit (18-7820)

Engine starts and seems to run great other than TWO problems...

Prob 1 is that the fuel pump is now spitting out fuel through the small
vent hole on the back side top. It did not do this before the kit and seems
to leak quite a bit...travels down and drips off fuel line.
...Question: Why is this doing this?...How do I fix it?

Prob 2 is that at WOT, engine takes off but gradually increases RPMs to
top end...seems like some kind of fuel issue...don't know if it's getting too
much or too little. It just seems to finally hit top end after it runs a bit at WOT.
...Question...What can I do to resolve this issue?

THANKS in advance for any help!

Sounds like you should go over the fuel pump again. Something is messed up.
