Used boat purchase checklist of things to look for/do....

I'm looking to purchase an used bow rider around 20 foot.
Am looking closely at a 21 chaparral and a 19 foot Sea Ray, both used.
Is there a general consensus of things I should look for when inspecting the boat?
Amy thoughts are appreciated.

Boat start to rot arount 15 years of age, so look for that. (how old a boat are we looking at?)

go for a ride and make sure the boat does what it should in terms of engine performance, planing, running temp, oil pressure, etc.

run a compression test on the engine after the test ride. Do a leak test if you can.

check for blisters or imperfections on the hull

Both those brands are OK, so the boats should be worthwhile if they have been maintained.

Very interesting to hear of the 15 year projection for boats to start to rot.
Was looking at a 2003, and 2006 chaparral in 21 ft size verses paying more for new 19 ft sea ray.
