ok...it's an 81 seawirl... I pulled the plugs and there seemed to be water in a cylinder... I'm thinking head gasket?... I don't know... it still cranks slow even with the plugs pulled and the starter wire positive is still getting hot... is it becaue I am using my truck battery right now? my marine battery was destroyed by this boat... its a mercruiser 898

The engines cylinders are probably all rusty and binding, or the starter is shot, or the cable are junk, or ..............

Pull the outdrive off, and with the spark plugs out, you should be able to easily turn the engine by hand, can you? With water in the cylinders, I would suspect the manifold to riser connection first, long before a head gasket.
