Problem starting 1986 Mercury Mairiner 90 straight 6

I have a problem staring my boat, started in the morning ran great. The boat sat for a few hours then would not restart. sprayed come carburator cleaner in the carbs, still would not attempt to fire. I let the boat sit over night tried again in the morning, still would not start.

I have been told to look at the control box, rectifire, and stator. Not sure what to look at/replace first.
