1987 50hp Johnson outboard/fuel line length?

I am going to be replacing the fuel line on my Johnson outboard. I have purchased a universal line and is much longer on either side of the primer bulb. Do I need to cut this to a certain length, and if so how much, or do I just leave it?

It will still work fine the way it is.....the extra length is there in case you need it......if you dont it will be okay to shorten it too.

Thanks for the advice. I have the new line on and will be hitting the lake this weekend.
