So after a month and a half of non stop rain it decides to finally get nice.
Yesterday at about noon the sun becomes sorta hazed over, and the same today.
Weather person this morning advises there is an air quality alert due to smoke coming north from Colorado.

Origanal title was stupid so I changed it sorry if you felt that I was being sarcastic, I was not.
We have gone through many months of wild fire and urban wild fire that have torched parts of my town and sorounding towns and areas.
The smoke was thick enough to turn the sky grey and the sun a dull orange for weeks at a time.

Is this a bit of sarcasm? If so maybe you should ask some of them that went through the disaster what they think about the whole thing. You should be lucky enough to have a half decent day

Sorry Rob, thought after the rains in the last few days we were in a pretty good situation now, unfortunately the entire state did not get the 5 inches of rain that I did in the last 48 hours, I will see if I have any pull with Mother Nature but don't get your hopes up Brother!!

Not "SARCASM", just really surprised on the amount of smoke up here from the fires that far south.

rbh,

Pretty common for smoke to drift over a very large area, it all depends on the prevailing wind patterns, what is amazing, is your north and west of where I am, and we are not getting any smoke at all from Colorado and believe after the fire years we have had here, I fully expected to be socked in.

Looks like your smoke isn't coming from Colorado. Seems it's the Russian forest fires that is messing up your view.

I was living in Manitoba in 1980 when Mt St. Helens in Washington erupted. We got showered with ash for two days.

Definetly hazey down the valley.
"Weather people are saying" were getting it from both directions today.

rj, I remember that weekend quite vividly, my mom was getting remarried and that saturday morning we got an 1/8 of an inch of ash everywhere + 100.000 bees decided to move to our lilock bush, made for an interesting couple of hours till a bee keeper came and got them back into one of those hive boxes.

Last summer when there was a fire in the MN boundry waters, the smoke was horrible here. For reference I am about an hour north of Milwaukee. It was really hazy, and when I came inside (just from walking to and from the car) my clothes smelled like I had been sitting around a camp fire all weekend. It was actually difficult to breathe at work since the sliding doors at the front kept letting the smoke in.
