hi, i bought a 1995 mercury mariner and when i first bought it it seemed to have gas problems so i figured it was the carbs and i had new kits put on and cleaned and tuned got the boat back and ran like new, idled really low, ran like a champ all day until now this is about 6 or 7 trips later, the boat had been running great all day as the day went on i noticed i had to rev the throttle more to start after i turned off the key but once it started it ran fine, then on the way back to the ramp about 2 miles of running fine the motor just slowly bogged down and shut off. i tried to crank it like 6 or 7 time it fired and turned over sounded like it wanted to start then would kick and make a air blowing off noise(only did that once) after trying to start it again the battery started going dead.... i got towed back to the ramp and the next day i put the motor on the hose and put a new battery on fully charged, changed the spark plugs and when i tried to crank the motor it was the same thing it sounded like it really wanted to but just wouldnt turn all the way over until i reved the crap out of the motor and even then wouldnt stay running, i took the shell of the motor off and noticed my rectifier was black like it had blown any body ever been in the same situation and figured out what it was i've run out of everything i could think of not being a mechanic and all please help
