year of my mercury 50 hp??

hi there my first post so here it goes.
i have a 50 hp mercury,long shaft.stripe on the cover is brown/beige. i got the serial# of the engine round silver plug.serial # is 7181511....i live in canada.just in case that,s info you need. would like to know what year this motor is so i can get a manuel for it..have tryed looking most places but i can,t seem to get a straight answer....hope u can help....thanks.:confused:

That s/n is for a Canadian built engine:

50 1982 EL 5949386 - 6275322 7181498

As the year 1982 begins with 7181498 which is lower than yours and 1983 begins with 7198593 which is higher than yours, that makes it a 1982.
