Okay so after 3 years I finally got the floor back in my 82 Renken. Got her running and had the riser go bad. Ripped her apart got a new manifold and riser and got a valve job done(Had a sticky annoying valve). Anyway now she's back together and there is a vibration at idle. Seems to get better as it accelerates. Wondering if I got the alignment correct. I did use the bar but still I changed everything except the short block. Can you make slight adjustments to the motor mounts with it in the water? I'm going after timing and dwell tomorrow.

Warm the engine up and re-check the compression. When you are removing the plugs make sure there's no water on them. What engine are you working on?

No, you have to use the bar while the drive is off. The bar should slide in-out pretty darn easy when it's right, 2-3 finger easy.

I would do as you were thinking, dwell, timing. Also, carb adjustments and maybe valves. If you have a valve too tight, it will make the engine run poorly.
