Hello I have rebuilt my motor for my 89 Bayliner capri 2152. We left all the wiring hooked up to the original block then transfered everything over to the new block. I took several pictures and know everything is where it goes. When we cranked it over for the first time it started right up several times (while adjusting the timing) Then all of a sudden no spark. We wiggled some wires and heard one arcing against the block. It was the green wire with stripe that goes to the shift interupter switch. We had forgot to attach. So we put it on the switch and still nothing. Could the arcing against the block blown something? Thanks to anyone willing to help :)

no really, grounding out that wire will kill the spark.you do know that the 2 places to mount wires for the interupter 1 is a ground and the other is isolated from ground.

Re: Mercruiser 5.0 no spark

remove the green/white wire from the interupter and see if it runs, then check to see if you used the correct screw.
