Stringer 800 outdrive oil recomendations?

Im working up the nerve to take the boat to the lake tomorrow for the first time, but want to change the oil in the drives and do a preasure check as suggested. I should say, the other way around, check & re-oil. I dont have one of those nifty oil fitting adapters. Do I NEED one? or could I just drain from the bottom and fill it from the top?
What oil and weight do you all recomend?

you need a pump. It would take 2 years to get oil in that upper from the top-and you're risking an air pocket which will destroy gears and bearings first trip down the lake.
In a pinch, a squeeze bottle will work, but that would be a long day and a lot of oil all over.

If you are going to pressure test, you need the adapter anyway. and the cheapest way to get that adapter is to buy a gear lube pump.

the correct oil is 80W90 gear lube in the upper, lower and intermediate.

pump it in the bottom of each until it starts to puke out the top. then replace the top. then remove the pump and replace the bottom screw quickly.

I cant speak about the benefits of 75/90 but for the same price I would suggest you get what is recommended so that it removes any doubt. I just built a pressure tester myself. Using the threaded end and hose from this:

then mated that up to this using a larger T connector to fit to the clear tubing: http://www.amazon.com/Actron-CP7803-Vacuum-Pressure-Tester/dp/B0006V2BS2 (I bought my guage at Advance Auto)

Then used another piece of clear tubing to the other side of the T fitting and a tire valve: http://shop.advanceautoparts.com/we...415-2-cd-Victor_1060049-P_N3186A_A|GRP2068___

I shaved off the wide part of the tire valve so that I could slide it into the clear tubing.
