During disassembly of my 1984 Merc 115 L6 the upper bearing slid off, it barely spins freely and i will be replacing it.

Would a bad upper bearing cause poor acceleration and low rpms?

The rest of the electronics and carb's that were on it are the same thats on my rebuilt 86 and that is running great. So i am looking for the reason this motor had poor performance with known good carbs and electronics.

Also the pistons have factory lines running around them, are these the original pistons? (i'll post a pict)

Anything else i should look for during disassembly and reassembly?

Here are the piston lines i was talking about..

Then there is .020 stamped on the corner of the crankcase at all pistons.

And these numbers stamped on top of the pistons. I am assuming between these numbers and the ones on the pistons this has been bored over .020.. correct?

Then i noticed 2 cracks on the half of the crank case that the carbs attach to. So i assume i'll have to replace that whole half of the case.

As always thanks in advance for the help and idea's.
