3.0 mercuiser motor issues

Took boat out ran great but took on water. Outer block small crack. Checked oil. No water in oil. Got it fixed it ran but rough thought put bad gas in drained oil still no water filled gas with new. Idles fine under pressure would stop running. Tried to start it and it backfired. Then starter went out. Put new starter on turned over then starter did same as old. Im cinfused. Ran great other than crack in block now it not running. With crack boat would do 40mph with 5 people in it. Im at a lose here. New plugs new oil new starter.

Also starter is making a whinning noise not engaging. 1997 searay. Never had issue had it fir 4 years 135 hours. Looks brand new not a scuff or cratch any where. Im very picky. Took dog out once and wont do it again cuz of dog hair on carpet. Abvouisly wasnt winterized correctly wasted 200 bucks on that.

When was the motor's last tune up,..?? 4 years ago, or longer ago,..??

Well,.... It takes Fuel, Fire, Compression, 'n All at the right Time, for a motor to Run....

I suggest a Tune-up so's you can find which 1 of those 4 things that yer motor is Missin'....

Thank you. I took new starter out ill get it tested. For kicks i turned motor over by hand. Did for a bit then stopped belt slipping on pulley. Confused went from running great to more problems by minute. Tighten up belt all goid motor moves by hand. Gitta be something simple

I think I'm missing something?Why would someone do a tuneup on a engine that has a crack in it???

Finally all new gaskets plugs compression test starter ect. All new still. Would run right. The i remembered i was a dumb head. Pulled plug wires of. And i had a felt weird coming off flipping broken plug wire. 10 dollar fix. Oh well boat fired right up going into water today. I guess wasnt waste of money. All that new stuff hasnt been done in the 4 years i owed boat. But learned lesson on check obvious and dont forget plug wires.
