so i have a gen 2 alpha one out drive and when ever i put it into gear it dies. i am a equipment mechanic for a living so i did a little research and learned about how the momentary kill works well mine is getting fully activated when ever i move the selector out of neutral. i tried adjusting but soon realized that i had bigger issues so i took my outdrive off and briefly ran it it would not die when shifted so i put the upper outdrive on and it still shifted fine however once i reinstalled the lower unit it started binding and dieing again. i am thinking that there is something screwed up in my gears. any ideas would be much appreciated before i bite the bullet open my lower unit up. thanks

Ayuh,.... Welcome Aboard,... I'd sooner think the lower shift cable is bindin' causin' yer problem....

That cable needs replacin' every 5 to 8 years, like the bellows, 'n other rubber parts at the transom...

3.0l i4 mercruiser s/n L366031
transom s/n 0L547188
outdrive s/n 2.00r 0L450429
as for the shift cable i was going to do it but since it does not seam to be binding or causing the switch to trip with out the lower unit on i was not sure. thanks to all for the prompt responses
