I guys!!!

I?m getting ready for the summer and for that I removed my Bayliner Capri 1700 from the garage to do some work on it.

First I polished the all the hull till it shines, then all the interior and finally the engine!

In the engine I removed all the gear oil (black as night), clean all the spark plugs, the fuel filter and added an extra filter near the carburetor to remove water. Tried to find the water pump to see condition, but no results
Oiled all junctions and look for anything strange or suspicious.

Tomorow:

*lubricate throttle cables
*Find out what is the maintenance for the trim

(In the gears I brought standard gear oil Galp 80W90)

Missing something?

Many thanks!!!:)

Re: Force 70Hp Ready for Summer???

Hi, and welcome.

Very little activity on the forum this week, as we are all off on our independence holiday.

You should use gear oil that is marine specific, as it is made to handle water contamination.

The water pump is inside the leg that extends to the gearcase.
THe gearcase must be emoted to replace the impeller.

Check the trim fluid level, and top it off if it is low. It may be 30W motor oil, or it may hydraulic fluid. You will have to check it, to see what it is.

To check it, lower the motor completely.
Open the large plastic cap on the side of the trim pump.
Use caution not to damage the cap.
When you replace the cap, do not over tighten.

If it runs well, enjoy your boating.

If you have problems, return here and ask for help and advice.

Here is a list I use for servicing. Probably would not need to do all the things on the list. I find it helpful as it reminds me of what I need to check.
