4.3 L Mercruiser trim problems

Last time out the trim would not come up. Found the oil in reservoir like jelly or something. I cleaned out as much as possible and trim is now working (sort of). Must the entire pump be removed and cleaned or is there something I can run through the system to clean it out?

Start by cleaning out the resivior thoroghly. I would disconnect the hoses from the rams and then pump clean fluid through the pump and lines untill you get pure clean fluid. With the hoses disconnected manually lift he drive up an down. This will clear the fluid/jelly from the rams. You may have to do this a couple of times. You could use some Marvel Mystery Oil while trying to clean the system. Then replace with good clean fluid.<br /><br />BTW where in southern Ms?
