Thanks for all the input guys. Especially Bondo. I have my site up and working completely....
It covers me repowering a 4.3 with an auto engine.

http://users.adelphia.net/~chrisradvanyi/

I still have to find out if I need an externally balanced flywheel and harminic balancer or not.......

Hey Capt'n,..........

I've Tryed to access your site,........ Twice.....

Last night from your other post,+ just Now, Here......

Both times it takes FOREVER to Load,+ once it Does,......
My 'Puter either SLOWS to Nothing or Locks Up....... Had to Shut Down,+ Reboot both times.........

But,......
Last nite,.... It locked up as I was seeing a picture of 2 heads,... Cylinder side to the camera,........

Neither of which are Vortec Fast Burn Heads.......
Just the Old Standard Chevy combustion Chambers............... ;)

His post says the boat is a '94 and the van was a '95.....

Didn't the Vortecs come out in '96?

How many bolts were holding the intake manifold on? I know the 350 Vortec intakes only have 8 bolts compared to 12 bolts on the pre-Vortec engines.

Be that as it may........I still enjoyed reading your site and looking at the pics!

Great site Capt'n. Looks like you are going to have a 'ell of a nice engine when you are done. I especially like the "caterpillar" yellow paint. Keep up the good work and keep us posted.

Hey Captain....I would suggest firing it up on the ground before installing it in the boat. There are several reasons that this might be a good idea. :D Seriously

Buttanic,................

You're Right,....... In that Chevy was calling the 4.3l Vortec,..........
But,.......
The Vortec Fast Burn Combustion Chambers weren't introduced until 1996..........

Tony's,....err... Babyloinboater's,... Right about the Missing Intake Manifold bolts on the Actual Vortec motors,.......

If you look at Capt.'s heads,.... They're the plain ole "D" shaped Chambers.......
The "Heart" shaped chambers,+ the .200 Higher intake runners, came out in 96,+ they just applied the Vortec Name to that........

BTW,........
Capt.,...........

If by chance you Do get to the point of adding True Vortec Heads,...............

Don't you Dare to get anywhere Near them with your Diegrinder..........Even WITH a Flowbench,....
Getting them to Flow Better,...... Usually ends up Making them Flow WORSE...........
I especially like the "caterpillar" yellow paint.
7 years ago,.... I was painting a Dozer in the Shop, when I was putting My 4.3LX together,..........................
Guess what Color Mine Is,.....................

My Next Build is going to be Mack's Maxidyne Gold.................... ;)
