Here is my problem:

The engine cranks and power trim works, and after the first cranking, on a second turn of the ignitaion key to start will not crank and the power trim does not work.

The white-red power wire on the power side of the starting solenoid has a 25 amp in-line fuse which is blown during the first cranking. This wire serves both the rectifier/regulator and the power trim switch.

I unplugged the power trim lead and the fuse still blew.

Next I checked continuity to ground on the white wire going to the recitifer/regulator and found a continuous circuit from power to ground.

before I buy a new rectifier/regulator, have I found the problem...are there more issues to check for?
