Hello everyone, I'm new here, fist time posting. I have a project I wanna get started on and need a little help.I have a 15' 1969 Glasspar... Not sure what model it is, maybe someone could help with that.. :) I got the boat about a year ago I have finally made up my mind that I wanna restore it. Im not really sure where to begin... This would be my fist restoration(Ive been on the water and around boats since before I could walk, my father is a commercial fisherman and makes a living on the water, but Ive never done anything like this)... when I got the boat it was full of junk, and had been sitting for a few years. after cleaning most the junk out I found the makeshift deck, the previous owner had put down a sheet of ply covered with some carpeting. After pulling that up I saw the rotten wood and wet foam, I pulled a little bit of that up as well, just to see how bad it all was. I know for sure that i wanna refloor it, and maybe rebuild the transom. Ive been reading though other posts and looking at pic of people doing similar projects. Ive seen some people doing the work while the boat is trailered and some sitting on blocks. What is the best way to do it, on the trailer or off? And if i need to remove the boat from the trailer whats the best way? sorry for long post, Im so full of questions and thoughts of what the end result will be, although i know its a long way away... anyone els get that way before starting a project? thanks for reading and all comments and advise are welcome

here are some pics of what i have to work with http://s1149.photobucket.com/albums/o591/boyo055/

Re: 1969 Glasspar ____??? restoration NEED HELP

Welcome to iBoats boyoO5!
Check on www.Fiberglassics.com to see if you can find out more about her. A lot depends on how far you want to go with her. If you want to bring her back to almost original status then I would seriously consider taking her off the trailer, removing the windshield, top cap and flipping her onto a cradle and working on the hull. Then flipping her back up and doing the Stingers, Deck and Transom. Check the first link in my signature for some good info. Lot's of good help here on the forum so keep posting pics. Use the IMG code to post your PB pics directly into your thread. Helps a lot.

Re: 1969 Glasspar ____??? restoration NEED HELP

Thanks for the input. I looked at that site have come to the conclusion that shes a Glasspar Avalon. Hopefully Ill have some time and help this week to get her off the trailer. I noticed that there are some dents and scrapes on the bottom, Should I sand it all down and go over with gelcoat, Or use some type of filler to get the imperfections out after sanding. in other words will gelcoat be enough to fill in the dings? sorry no pics of that , Ill try to post some tomorrow. Thanks!!!

Depends on the severity of the damage. Get the pics posted and we can go from there.
