My 1991 OMC 4.3L jumped a tooth on the timing chain. I am looking to get new one but I am having trouble finding the exact replacement. The the chain that was on it is like a large bike chain. I can't seam to find that style is it ok to replace them with a timing gear set for a 4.3L s-10 from napa? That style seams to be the flat style chain.

Thanks

Re: OMC 4.3L Timing Chain

There are a few different 4.3 out there. Sounds like you are describing the difference between the single(big bicycle looking one) and double roller chains (the flat one) as long as it fits you are good to go.

The one on the right is a leaf style chain. It is just a basic stock type chain. Probably what the one from napa looked like.
The one on the left is probably what the one looked like that failed, generally called a roller. Either one will work fine. The roller is usually considered a performance/upgrade chain. The leaf is a cheap replacement.
