Recently boat started overheating at low RPM. At almost WOT, it stays about 140* but while idling or anything below 75% WOT it starts creeping up. I believe the reason is because I ran the motor without muffs for about 20 seconds in the back yard once. But I don't know.

So I took the impeller off, and to my surprise it looked pretty descent. The only problem I think there might be is the gasket at the top of the plate. It seemed like it was torn in one place. (See picture). Could this be the problem or is it something more serious inside the engine somewhere ?

not likely , WOT will force feed the engine water not pump it in. you cant tell by looking , replace it,

working on it today and 98* heat is not helping any. One thing I noticed was that the "centrifugal slinger" was not previously installed. might be lodged somewhere ? could be the reason for the overheating ?
