the cone clutch on my cobra drive is stuck so my boat won't come out of forward gear, is this just a simple thing of unjamming it or should the whole thing be replaced because of it?

No, you don't just "Un-Jam it"

The first thing you need to do is give some engine and drive information. Full model number and serial numbers would do wonders.

The engine is a 3.0 omc cobra model no.302ccpmda and the stern drive is OMC Cobra Serial no.T0783734 1.85 ratio production
no.3868029.

also there is a spring in there if that is worn could that be some of the problem why it is stuck or would that not have anything to do with it?

Have you pulled the back cover to see if the drive is actually coming out of gear? It could be the cable is broken, or the linkage came loose under the back cover.

yeah, i took the cover off and took out the shift mechanism and after some research online and looking at what mine looked like i came to the conclusion that the cone has become jammed, I just don't know where to go after that and what needs to be done to stop it from happening

Re: stuck cone clutch

ok, so tonight i tried to upload a couple of pics but it won't let me, I pulled the top cover on the sterndrive so i could see the top gear and I tried to lift that up out of it but i can't get the gear out it only lifts about an 1/8 of an inch, does the whole sterndrive and driveshaft have to be taken out for this to happen or can i pull that top gear out without taking it off?
