05 malibu squealing noise from driveshaft area

hello all,my malibu response lx is making this huming,sqealing sound in drive at low speeds and goes away at higher speeds.Any clues?I thought it was the prop because it was bent,so i changed out prop and noise is still there.the noise sound like when you strike a tuning fork and hear that kind of buzz/hum noise.??Steve

How's the oil in your transmission?

I would suggest you check the stuffing box. What type of a stuffing box is on the propeller shaft? (traditional adjustable with a packing nut or a 'dripless'?) If it is a traditional type is it moist /wet around the shaft with a periodic drip? - It should be. If it is too tight & dry it could well be squeeling, and also scoring & damaging the prop shaft, so you should check it out.
