carb question?

hey guys im not so much old school so i have what i think is a carb issue. i have a 94 30hp johnson 2 stroke, and it runs great till tonight i adjusted what i think was the lean rich adjuster screw, ya im dumb should of researched more before turning screws, but it seems to idle really high and at idle it like almost backfires and big bubbles come up from the prop. when its in gear and running fast, it run better. any suggestions? note this motor is really clean and well maintained

That is the low speed needle valve and is adjusted as stated in post #2. It might vary the idle while fine tuning, but it is not used to set the idle. Normally if you are getting a lean sneeze through the exhaust you need to open the needle valve a little, try a 1/4 turn out and see if it helps.
