Hello to all. Thanks for taking the time to read my question. I am a first timer looking at a couple different boats and value experienced advice and input.

The two boats I looking at are 1991 Bayliner ciera 2651 vs 1996 Monterey sport cruiser. Both are on Hilton Head Craigslist.

My question is more of request for opinions from you, but "Which of the two would make a better first time boat?"
Thanks,

hi,

i like the 1991 Bayliner ciera 2651 simply because i have gone on one and it was a real nice ride. Bayliners are really wide and roomy. Post some pics and details. good luck

Re: Input on first boat

Welcome aboard Gibby.

First glance at both those boats I'd have to look 'em over in person. The Bay looks like they've really kept it clean - or made it back to clean. Both boats have rebuilt engines looking at the ads, but no indication as to why. With used boats it's really an issue of condition. Before getting into a boat like that one, I'd probably advise having a marine mechanic check it out with you. A survey would be a good idea, but that might be a little pricey on an $11k boat.

26' is quite a bit of boat for a first timer. Do you have experience with them? People can figure them out (they do it all the time), but there's a relatively steep learning curve with a boat that big.
