Electric motor - charging together

I have a Motor Guide electric motor that runs on 24 volts - I run two 12volt batteries wired in series. I just purchased a Battery Tender 2 bank charger so I can charge both batteries at the same time.

My question: Can I leave the batteried connected in series when I connect the charger to charge them? When they are charging, the motor is not plugged in; however the batteries are still connected to each other.

Also, I want to mount the charger in the boat and install an outlet that will allow me to plug in a cord to charge and then un plug and its ready to go. Will it do any harm to the batteries or the motor if I have the Battery Tender connected to the batteries at all times - even when using the motor?

Thanks.

Welcome to iboats!

Unless the charger instructions say otherwise, you should have no problem. They are still independent 12V batteries when you attach the charger leads to them.
