I find "iboating" a question gets me some great answers on this forum.

I am renovating my bathroom. What is a good stain brand to use for staining a vanity?

I have found either the minwax or varathane brands work equally well. Just make sure to put at least two coats of polyurethane on for bathroom use.

Agreed, stain-pick your color. Protect- minimum two coats. Steel wool for glassy finish. 0000 grade

Unless you want a sealed, urethane type finish, I've used brown paste shoe polish, a rag and an old toothbrush(to get in and around spaces), then polish with a rag. Leaves a beautiful, natural, fairly water resistant finish. Apply all you want, as often as you want. I've used it for years on antique furniture, old gun stocks, etc. Good Luck!;)
