115 hp evinrude firing on one cylinder

I recently changed the coil pack for the 2nd cylinder and all 4 fired up, but then after a short run they died again. is it something with the fuel? They all have good spark. Will rebuilding the carbs do anything because when they fired up they smoked pretty bad.any help would be appreciated.

Not sure what you are saying. Did the spark plugs lose spark, or did the engine just die? Weak ignition components tend to fail once the engine heats up to normal operating temps. That may be what is happening after a short run.

It would surprize me that engine would run on 1 cylinder. Normally you would need 2 cylinders to sustain operation. Recommend compression test and spark test. Let us know results.
