I have a 1987 Merc - the previous owner decided to paint he cowl green to match the hull of the boat (yuk) so I need to repaint it and put some new decals on it. Anyone know the paint ID and it's probably got a clear coat? Also any idea where to obtain a decal set and pictures to replace the decals??

Thanks much!

I think any good enamel or single stage urethane would work. To me black is black and you won't be able to tell unless it's next to a new
factory merc. Enamel will be easier as urethane needs epoxy primer. A guy on flebay sells reproduction decals for most models, can't speak for the quality though. I used benjamin moore p22 on my boat and will use it on my motors when I repaint. It's basically the same paint as the single part urethane paints companies market for boat use like easypoxy but half the price. The MSDS are very similar.
