98 baliner capri 1750 ls

I just replace my battery a week ago, third one in 1 1/2 yrs always was real slow starting slow cranking. then today was out for a few hours wouldnt start . the positive wires were so hot that the post melted on the battery! not sure what the problem is. could there be a short with the starter? b/c each time I bruoght the battery back they tested it and was told it tested bad. any help????

Welcome to iboats!:cool:

A bad connection at the battery post can cause a lot of heat, but given your history of dead batteries, I would pull the starter and have it tested.

Heat is usually a sign of resistance... Which is a symptom of bad connections, bad (corroded) wiring, or wiring of a gauge too small to support the load, etc.

Ayuh,.... Welcome Aboard,.....When dealin' with Electricity,... Heat = Resistance....

Yer battery cable, or it's end is corroded, or just plain ole Junk...
