Looking at a 1981 150 V6...anything to look out for?

I am going to look at replacement for my 1972 1150, I currently have it apart, with a 1981 150. The 1150 is the only outboard I have owned so a V6 will be a completely different animal. Is there anything that would be a deal breaker or something to steer clear of with the V6? Are they strong engines? Does anyone prefer a V6 to the L6? The motor is complete with controls, rebuilt carbs and fuel pump. Compression is all between 100-110. What is a fair price on a running 150 V6 with controls?

Thanks!

Well a 35 hp increase is going to be noticable. The 81 150 is a very nice torquey engine. I don't know what you're puting it on but you will know it is there. I don't know what a 31 yr old engine is going for.
