Adding 2nd battery and switch??

Hey guys I have a 26 foot pontoon with yamaha f115. I have a dual purpose battery installed already. I have a brand new interstate starting battery that I am looking to add and install a switch. I'm doing this as I am adding a Jbl marine amp (40amp draw Max) to my stereo. Any suggestions on this setup and do u see any issues with me doing this? Thx I was also wondering what gauge wire I should run from the battery to amp which is about a 7-8 foot run .. Thx again

8 gauge will be fine just make sure you use it for power and ground shouldn't have any problems that I can foresee in running the dual setup, pretty straight forward. Just be sure to fuse the amp within about 18 inches or so from the battery.
