Hey everyone, I admit I am a rookie and am currently looking to purchase my first boat. I looked at an 84 Conroy today and had a couple of questions. 1) The hull has a quarter sized factory looking hole in the hull. What is this? It can be seen in the front view of the boat. 2) the floor is soft near the storage board and near the gas tank. Is this something to stay away from and keep looking? Also, what do you think the boat is worth assuming the motor runs great? Here is the boat on craigslist. Thank you.

The hole is almost certainly the anchor locker drain. The soft floor means the deck is rotten, and probably, but not definitely, that the stringers are rotten too.

I would not buy it unless you plan on facing the worst and doing a stringer/deck/transom rebuild. Frankly, that thing looks like a wreck, and more like a $1200 boat then a $2900 one.

Welcome to iboats.

Hmmm soft deck......... what lies beneath the deck? Wet foam, wet/rotted stringers connected to a failing transom.

Sounds like a great deal if you have about $1500+ on hand to put into proper rebuild materials.

Sorry I have NO FAITH or Trust in 1984 hulls that show problems.

I would recommend you continue to shop.
