1971 50hp evinrude 50172s compression spark great way to much gas help

Hi I have a 71 50 hp evinrude hyroeletric shift start compression is 130 both cylinders spark is great but seems to flood itself or just will not start turned over then died I have another 71 50 exactly the same complete if I need parts so any suggestions would really be appreciated both engines ran last year

How did you check your spark ??

you say it is flooding. Have you checked the floats and the float levels?

I have the same motor, a project I plan to resurrect. Just purchased carb kits on eBay for 20.00 each. Pretty easy rebuild or just swap out the carbs from the other engine you have , although they too probably need servicing . Clean them out first and as jimmbo says check the floats and the float levels. Good luck.
