Hello all,
I have an older BF20 2hp and just started having some issues with it. I have a plan of attack but was hoping that someone may have had some experience with these little engines.
When first starting the engine it starts fine and runs fine. Then about 2 minutes into use, it begins smoking white smoke. It then sounds as if it is slowing/binding (without any gear or metal on metal grinding sounds). It is unlike gas starvation. It is a very slow die that does not change even with additional throttle applied. It then takes a few minutes of cool down and the engine will restart. And then smoke and die again.
I plan to do a compression test as well as remove the carb and clean and tune it. If the compression test comes back as bad should i do a leak down test next? If the compression test does not come back bad i am not sure what the issue could be.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you .
