Changing the u-joint bellows on my 1992 volvo dp-c, and when I loosened the clamp and broke the seal, about a full cup of water poured out. I know I will have to replace the u-joints, but not sure about the gimbal bearing or how to even check it on this drive. Any thoughts?

Ni gimbal bearing.

When that bellows has water in it then the U-joints are comrpomised, and the drive may have water in it as well because the seal there in the drive is only designed to keep oil in. The u-joint shaft splines into a longer shaft inside a hollow tube which expands out into a bellhousing, all one piece, called PDS (PrimaryDriveShaft) housing. There are 1 or 2 sets of bearings in there that the driveshaft goes thru. To get to those bearings you have to take that out still connected to the engine so it is not for the faint of heart.
