My son purchased a ski boat with a 2002 Mercury 115HP 2 stroke oil injected outboard. This low hours motor runs fine, however the oil injection system seems to consume excessive oil for the amount of running time. Our impression is the engine consumes twice as much oil (as normal) for the corresponding volume of gas he has used when he is using the boat. Inspection under engine cover shows oil wetness in the lower tray, on the side of the motor, and in & on the air box...after he runs it up on the driveway using "muffs" and a garden hose, it will drip oil from the bottom tray and down the lower unit. Suggestions? is there a way to troubleshoot the oil injection system.

I have an 03 125 that is basicaly the same. For the oil in the bottom of the tray, do you leave your motor trimmed up while not in use? If you do it is the fuel draining out of the carbs. I experienced the same think some time back. Could not find a leak or any where the fuel/oil could be comming from. I had read this on another board. For the past 5 year I leave my motor trimmed down while not in use and the lower pan is for the most part fuel/oil free.

I enclosed the pages for checking the oil injection adjustments and ability to check the output from the oil pump. I hope it helps you.
