minnkota 210 charger problem

i have a minnkota 210 battery charger which is a two bank charger, this is hooked up to a 24 volt system for my trolling motor. each bank is hooked to each battery, now for the problem when i pluged it in the yellow light came on for battery one and for battery two the green light came on. this is telling me that battery one is charging and battery two is fully charged. how can that be on a 24 volt system.

next thing i did was to disconnect the outputs from the charger, this should have lit both red lights telling me to check the connections. what i got was a yellow light on battery one and a red light on battery two. how can it be charging on battery one when it is not hooked up to the battery.iam thinking that i might need a new charger. any information would be grateful.

Batteries in SERIES are totally isolated from each other when there is no load applied. So it is entirely possible that a bad battery or one that discharges at a more rapid rate than the other can result in the charger behavior you first explained. You need to study the manual to see if the action of the lights is normal. Connect the outputs and measure the output with a voltmeter.
