Hi... I have a prop purchased from iboats with a 10 1/2" pitch... My boat is a '88 20" sweetwater...
I am getting a gps reading of 11mph top speed...my question is would a larger pitch move this boat
a little faster.... At top speed i am useing way to much fuel. I have adjusted the carb as per nissan
specs. Thank you for your time in this question....

11 MPH is very low for a 40, don't use that engine/boat as it is or will ruin engine. Install an induction tach and check min/max working parameters for that engine, should be between 5200-5800 rpm at wot. Your final reading will indicate how much you're underproped. The standard short/long shaft factory delivered prop is 10.6" x 11.3" if that boat is real heavy will neeed 10 to 7 mark props to choose from.

Happy Boating

So that's a pontoon, right?Do you have any rpm figures? Speed without rpm doesn't mean much except your about 7 mph slow.
A induction tach like a Tinytach will work on any motor. cost about $47.
As you may know your Nissan is made by Tohatsu. Might help you find a wider choice of props.
Is the boat lightly loaded? what is the diameter of the tubes?
