I have a 1987 Boston whaler 20 outrage on a dual axle aluminum trailer. How much tongue weight am I sopposed to have? My dad is telling me 50-80 lbs but I think he's wrong. Ive had boats this size before And they had a few hundred lbs of tongue weight.

10% of total weight of trailer needs to be on the tounge. If your tongue weight is light, you may encounter swaying issues.

Your rig being around 3500lbs, you should have close to 350lbs of tongue weight if well balanced but, having a dual axle trailer reduce it a bit so it should be more in the 250lbs range. As said, tongue weight is your friend for anti-sway and improved traction on slippery ramp...
