cavitation/ventilation problem

I have a 18' trophy with a 1986 125HP Force.

I've used the boat for three years and never had a cavitation/ventilation issue until last week.

Last week, while attempting to get a water skier up, the boat bogged down and then began to rev up as if the prop were cavitating.

I determined that the bogging down issue was related to a worn diaphram in the fuel pump which I replaced. The boat seems to have power again. But now it routinely cavitates during acceleration. If we accellerate slowly, we avoid the problem and the boat seems to hit top speed.

I investigated the prop and it looks okay. Just to be sure, I took a grinder and eliminated any burrs, etc. But the boat still cavitates and revs during acceleration. Any suggestions?

Thanks for your attention.

Re: cavitation/ventilation problem

If everything worked before you may have a spun hub. Difficult to see. Put a mark on the hub and prop. Run the boat and see if the mark is still lined up
