Power Trim

I recently purchased a '79 SeaRay Mercruiser I/O that has been sitting for 15 years. It has a 3 button setup for the trim. The trim "in" works, but the trim "out" does not. If I push the "out" and "up" buttons together for trailering mode, it works. Why does the "out" button in the middle not work by itself?<br /><br />Thanks for your help.

You have an open in your trim limit switch circuit. The wires are probably rotted off back by the switch (on the gimbal hsg.).<br />Welcome to iboats!

If your drive goes up when you depress the middle & top buttons in unison & the drive goes down when the bottom button is depressed......There is nothing wrong with your system....You need to push both buttons to raise the drive...This prevents inadvertantly raising the drive to an unacceptable height while the engine is running(BAD)....If it goes up all the way & down all the way, you don't have a problem ;) BTW, welcome to the forum at iboats :) .....JK
