We have been in a drought around here for so long that they are starting to tell in the newspaper how boaters are only able to navigate parts of the Kankakee river and pictures of the corn crops with leaves that a are starting to curl up. It got up to 93* today before it started raining. Tom Skilling said last night that we were getting into a pattern where it couldn't rain because there was no moisture going up into the passing clouds to set off a rain storm. Thank God Tom Skilling was wrong today.

Glad it rains there and hope you get more without flooding. Our almanac is 3" per year but we've seen less than 2" per year the last few. Nice low humidity when it's over 100*

Good to see Tom was wrong- Thomas Ethelbert Skilling, III, known on-air as Tom Skilling, is a popular meteorologist in Chicago, Illinois. He is chief meteorologist for the weekday midday, 5 and 9 p.m. newscasts at CW affiliate and national cable superstation WGN-TV

I bet if the drought ends in the midwest, it will dry up in the southeast. Glad to here you guys are getting rains. We have had a drought every year for the past 6 years. Our drought is back down to moderate from severe

Re: Rain Finally!

We got 5" of rain out of the last one but it has been in the 90s since and it is getting dry around here again. We have a chance of more rain this morning and if we get it,with the temperatures cooling off a little now, everything might start growing again. That 5-7 inches we got the last time did raise the river level to almost normal. The thing about rain this time of year is that it is so scattered that we got 5" and 10 miles away they only got 2" other places got up to 7".
