Hi there, I just purchased an old 15" bow rider with 80 HP outboard Mercury really cheap, but the transom is really weak. I was hoping to get some steel/metal to fix it. Has anyone ever done this before? I can see a long term problem with this as it will still rot inside and the metal will eventually rust but it seems to be a great short term cheap fix. I just don't have the cash to fix it properly at the moment so I was hoping for a quick temporary fix. I've seen other posts of people using metal but not sure if it worked out for them or if it has worked for anyone, how long has it lasted thus far? Any comments would be great!

Re: Transom repair using steel/metal

If your transom is weak/rotted you will have other issues below the deck...... A rotten boat is a safety hazard and you and or others can be injured or worse can happen. There is no band-aid for a rotten transom....
