New fenders and wheels/tires for the trailer!

Thought I'd post up some of my recent trailer modifications. When I got my Hydrostream the trailer had some ugly 14" wheels with large tires and some fairly beat up fenders. The rest of the trailer was in pretty good shape (aside from a jack and roller), so decided it was time to remove the old fenders and weld on some new ones, and while I was at it I sprung for some new bling :p

Fender and wheel mocked up (had to weld an extension for the fenders to mount to)

Here's after I got the tires mounted and finished painting the fenders:

As you can see in this pic, the PO tried welding the old fender to the diamondplate

Looks great. I hope you have wheel locks installed, as well as a good coupler lock.

Very Nice.

Is the distance from the Tire to the Fender, Larger than the distance from the Axel to the Frame?
If/when you bounce the trailer over something major, the tire may strike the fender first!

The distance isn't more but I put each side up with the jack under the axle and jumped up and down real hard and they didn't hit. The boat is so light I think the trailer will bounce before the springs will compress to the point of contact. Thanks for the compliments and yes I have locks for both lol

Thanks! I already got a new jack and roller for it, I think it had that Northern Tool one on it before actually.

what are your plans to trim out the diamond plate the PO messed up? Some nice polished aluminum angle would look great there and dress those knarly edges up.

That's what I was thinking! Going to address it soon, took the boat out today, first time the trailer has been out of the garage since the new wheels:

I live down a bumpy dirt road and trailer did great with the new fenders, even running through downtown which has some knarly bumps, it never scrubbed :)
