Hey Folks,

Let me start by saying Im new to this forum and also new to boating!
Im having a hard time keeping my 1984 Merc 65hp to idle, even after its warm, I run the boat (odd time it boggs when i first hit hard with the throttle) but I have to have the fast idle lever up a bit to keep it to idle, there is a black knob at the front of the control box (opposite end to the key) i accidently hit it and it turned have no idea what its for or what it does would this have anything to do with the idle or starting problems after its already been running?
Any help with this is greatly appreciated.

Dont turn it. It has wires inside that can twist and short out.

Re: HELP!...Black Knob on control box

If its the slim control box with push to choke in the key it a 2000 series box and that knob is to adjust friction on the control handle....
