Prop help!

Hi, first off, I'm relatively new to the boating community. I need some advise about my prop on my Baretta supersport200. It is a 20 foot cuddy cabin with a aq131c volvo penta engine in it. I'm not exactly sure which drive it has though(the covers missing). It has a 3 blade aluminum prop. I think the prop is a 14 diameter and a 19 pitch(dont quote me)...
Im concerned about the divoting near the center of the prop. Can anyone explain to me what is happening?

Thank you,

Michael

Re: Prop help!

That looks like the result of cavitation. There is a low pressure area on the back side of the prop the water actually boils in the low pressure causing the erosion.Usually not a problem and can be an indication the prop s working really well.

It seems like the area on each fin seems to be getting worse every time i take it out...Anything to do to prevent it? It just scares me. Lol.

Re: Prop help!

I guess you could slap a little paint on it on a regular basis.
Maybe an epoxy type.
