I have a 1989 Mastercraft Prostar 190, and I recently installed a new drive shaft. I checked the shaft coupler and transmission coupler to within .002'' of an inch. My question is, should the drive shaft turn easily by hand when the boat is in neutral? It turns very easily right now by hand and I am affraid that something is wrong with the transmission that I caused by installing the drive shaft improperly. The transmission was rebuild about five years ago.

It should turn easy if the shaft is aligned. A boat can bind up a bit on the trailer. In gear it will still turn but not as fast.

make sure the bearing is wet, or use soap.

Ok thanks.
It was my first time to do an engine alignment and I wanted to make sure that I am not asking for trouble a couple of years down the road.
